Simon Fraser
Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, M.OMSc, BSc. (OSTCAN Certified)
Simon graduated from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy where he completed a Master in Practice Diploma of Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences (M.OMSc). This classical training grants students an in-depth understanding of anatomy and physiology, so they can treat the layers of bodily structure on a personalized, individual level.
Prior to this, he worked in the Health Care field as a Medical Sales Representative for over 15 years.
It was from his experience working in this field that he developed a desire to be more involved in patient care.
Recently, he relocated his practice to 1191 Lansing Ave, Unit 5.
It is a form of Osteopathic Manipulative assessment and treatment in which the patient’s muscles are actively used on request, from a precisely controlled position, in a specific direction, and against a distinctly executed physical counterforce.
Joint mobilization is a type of passive movement of a skeletal joint. It is usually aimed at a ‘target’ synovial joint with the aim of achieving a therapeutic effect.
The myofascial release approach is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat dysfunction, resulting pain and restriction of motion. This is accomplished by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing circulation and lymphatic drainage, and stimulating the stretch reflex of muscles and overlying fascia.
A craniosacral therapy session involves the therapist placing their hands on the patient, which allows them to “tune into the craniosacral rhythm”. Craniosacral therapy treats mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ Syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.
It is a system of assessment and treatment that considers the dysfunction to be a continuing, inappropriate strain reflex, which is inhibited by applying a position of mild strain in the direction exactly opposite to that of the reflex; this is accomplished by specific directed positioning about the point of tenderness to achieve the desired therapeutic response.
